About the Instructors

Dr. Thomas Henkel, PMP
Tom Henkel, PMI NEFL VP of Education, is a full-time faculty associate professor assigned to the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) Worldwide College of Business. As the Management Sciences Department Chair he is responsible for three master degrees: Project Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and Engineering Management. He also teaches project management courses.

Tom holds a Bachelor's Degree in Personnel Management; a Master of Science Degree in Personnel Management; a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; a Doctorate in Adult Education and a Doctorate in Business Administration.

Cheryl Reynolds, PMP
Cheryl has been in Project Management for over 25 years and has been in Jacksonville, FL for 10 years. Her project management experiences include the Military, Aerospace and Defense industry, Logistics 3PL, and Information Technology.

Cheryl has Bachelors in Management and an MBA. She earned her PMP in 2000 and again in 2011. She earned the PMI-ACP certificate in Oct 2013 following an educational event held by PMI-NEFL.

Cheryl has facilitated the NE-FL PMP Study Group for the last 3 years resulting in more than 2 dozen additional PMPs for PMI.
 

 

Paula Rives, PMP

Paula Rives, PMP
Paula is currently the President of Higher Moves, a company she founded in 1999 to creatively develop business strategy and manage change within businesses.

Her recent projects for Florida Blue included developing plans for a Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform. As a part of this project, Florida Blue became the first payer to participate in a 2012 national interoperability showcase, demonstrating the use of open source technology standards for care coordination, across a simulated nationwide environment between providers and health insurance payer bi-directionally.

She enjoys cutting-edge projects and being the “Botox” for businesses by smoothing out the wrinkles of change through cross-functional collaboration with internal and external partners.

Michael Turner, PMP

Michael is the Senior Project and Portfolio Office Manager with the Information Technologies Division for the City of Jacksonville. He has over 17 years experience in project management and strategic leadership. In his current role he facilitates project selection, prioritization and governance while effectively forging best practices and standards for the organization. His extensive knowledge includes infrastructure management, technology migration and business transformation focusing to deliver transparent and thorough insight into the IT business organization. 

He has managed budgets of over $14M, been a key subject matter expert for system implementations, RFP’s, contract administration, technology convergence and managing effective teams. He is a trusted advisor to his team and senior leadership.

 

Michael has a passion for leading; learning and mentoring others in order to present them with the ability grow and achieve their goals.

 


KevinJohnsKevin Johns, PMP

Kevin earned his PMP certification through the PMI-NEFL chapter study group in 2008 and wants to “pay it forward” for the next group of future PMPs.

Kevin has over 20-year’s experience in multiple facets of IT/ technology project management including the US Air Force, Barnett Bank through to Bank of America, and most recently at Black Knight Financial Services.(formerly LPS). He has implemented technology projects in e-Commerce, credit cards, mortgage servicing, and mortgage originations, along with roles in communications, strategic planning, and setting up and managing a portfolio PMO of 28 initiatives.

Kevin has a BSBA from Mount Olive College and a MS in Management from Florida State University. He earned his PMP certification in 2008 and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.

 


KPerry 2015Ken Perry, PMP, PMI-ACP

Ken Perry is a Certified Project Management Professional who practices project management daily at Landstar System Inc. and trains professionals on project management and project leadership most recently at the University of North Florida.

Ken’s work experience provides real-world insights into the connection between employee behavior and bottom-line project results. He has managed projects for Landstar, Bank of America, Blue Cross, Convergys, Citi and AT&T.

He is currently the president of the local chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis and a past president of the local chapter of The Project Management Institute.
