2021- October PMI-NEFL Regional Creativity, Intuition and Bricolage

Power Skills

Acclimating to a project management role requires a fair amount of personal investment to build a foundation of knowledge and see rising success in your projects. Whether you have been gifted a project management role, or have officially become a Project Manager, using strategic improvisation will help build that foundation of knowledge through a combination of creativity, intuition and a skill called “Bricolage.”

Formal processes may be part of your organization, and how your organization addresses culture, motivation, commitment and trust is key to how innovation and more importantly, improvisation is handled through changing situations. Organizations have different levels of risk tolerance in regards to self-directed work, but allowing improvisation is key to breaking the assumptions of “best-practices” through creativity and creating effective solutions to problems.
