2019 PMI NEFL Community Service Event
Feeding Northeast Florida is local community Food Bank that helps local children and families, seniors and active and retired military members who struggle to put food on the table. Working with local grocery stores, manufacturers, and farms we rescue high-quality food that would normally be wasted and transform it into meals for those in need.
By connecting millions of pounds of rescued food to a network of over 150 social service agencies and programs like City Rescue Mission, The Sulzbacher Center and The Salvation Army, these hunger-relief partners are able to provide not only food to those in need, but services that can help these families and individuals end the cycle of poverty. In 2018, Feeding Northeast Florida provided more than 14.1 million meals to our network of social service agencies in eight counties throughout Northeast Florida.
Volunteers are the heartbeat of Feeding Northeast Florida operation. You can help fight hunger with warehouse food sorting volunteer opportunities. You will help ensure high-quality, safe food is being distributed to clients by working with teams to inspect, categorize and package food items. Depending on the day, we may be sorting donations of shelf-stable items, bagging fresh produce, or repacking frozen items.
All volunteers must be scheduled in advance. Walk-ins are not accommodated.
Closed-toe shoes are required for participation.
Warehouse does not have air conditioning or heat so please plan to dress according to the weather.
Not just limited to members of PMI-NEFL! Friends and family members ages 16+ also welcome to join. Contact vpmembership@pmi-nefl.org with questions.
