John Luker has provided project leadership across a broad range of industries including finance, transportation, healthcare, information system security, education, and government for over 25 years.
Serving PMI NEFL as VP of Communications for 2015 & 2016, John picked up additional responsibilities of VP Technology early in 2016. He has spearheaded the upgrade & redesign of the pmi-nefl.org website, implementation of helpdesk functionality, and a complete overhaul of the chapter's newsletter management system. As 2018 President-Elect he became President in August 2018 due to Ralph's DoD contract requiring temporary relocation to the Norfolk area.
John began his postsecondary education at the University of Georgia (GO DAWGS!!!). He graduated Magna Cum Laude from both the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a BSBA in MIS and from Virginia College with an MS in Cybersecurity. Joining PMI in 2006, he completed his PMP certification in 2008. He is also a life member of the Administrative Science honor society Beta Gamma Sigma.
In a previous life, he was a Wilderness Medicine-Certified Field Paramedic who volunteered with cave rescue and mountain rescue units. He also served as Director of Operations and Handler of search dog "Connie" with an urban/wilderness search dog organization.
John is an enthusiastic amateur coppersmith, and also enjoys creating jewelry. On occasion, he also performs admirable duty as a gear sherpa for his nature photographer wife, Donna.
